As a little girl I always wondered how things around us work. How does the internet make its connection? Why are some sunset skies pink and others not? Why does an ambulance siren sound weird when it drives past me? It was all of these questions that eventually led me to pursue both a bachelor and masters in Applied Physics at TU Delft. That same curiosity is what triggered me to apply for a job at ASML, because how are microchips actually made?! For three years as a CS Application Engineer I spent my 9-5 helping our customers keep their microchip production process up and running. After a few years of flying across the globe supporting our customers with their daily chip-making challenges, I started to wonder more often: "How are all of these ASML products actually made?" I chased that question to one end of the rainbow and ended up in a new role as Technical Project Lead within the Development & Engineering department.

During my time in Delft I participated in the very first pilot of Librae's mentorship program. Because I realised that the challenges that I would be facing in the work force would not be same as for my male peers that I had just spent years studying with. Some of the conversations I've had with my mentor still resonate in my mind. The fact that a couple of years later I'm on the other end of the mentorship program feels like a circle completed to me. I hope to pay it forward.

Group Leader Sourcing and Procurement

Annelieze is an Electrical Engineer with an Executive MBA at Maastricht University. She started her career in the DUV factory at ASML as a System Performance Engineer after which she became a Team Leader in the same department. She then became a Group Leader at Technical Support in the DUV factory and is currently working in Sourcing and Procurement as a Manager for the full Mechatronics and Mechanics cluster of Operational Supply Coordinators and Tactical Buyers. She leads 5 managers who have on teams facing large number of suppliers on the operational level, ensuring material availability along with other internal stakeholders. The vision of her current department is to drive Excellent Operations with an end-to-end Continuous Improvement mindset while delivering optimal Customer Value and unlocking the potential of Our People. She is passionate about the development of the people in her team and believes that making the best decision for the good of ASML and for the development of people in her team are the most important decision-making factors. She is also Chairwomen of the Women Employee Network within ASML which strives to create an environment where women are connected and included, have equal opportunities and have the freedom to be their authentic selves.

Materials Specialist
Material Science and Engineering

I’m Maxine, born and raised in Ghana. I am fascinated by materials and the many ways they can be engineered to suit specific technological needs. This is what pushed me to pursue my Bachelor in Chemical Engineering in the United States after which I moved to the Netherlands for my Master and then PhD in Materials Science and Engineering. Currently, I work as a Material Specialist at ASML in the department Development & Engineering Machine Conditioning which is focused on material physics and chemistry phenomena that affect the performance of the scanners and metrology tools we supply to our customers. I also serve on the board of the Connect employee network which strives to provide a platform for cross-cultural engagement for local and international colleagues alike at ASML and to create an environment where cultural uniqueness is celebrated. 

I find gender diversity and equality important because it has been shown for tech companies as well as in academia that gender diversity increases innovation potential and translates to increased creativity, knowledge sharing and task fulfilment. As such, to tackle the big questions and challenges posed by our constantly and rapidly evolving world, I believe that maximizing diversity is key. I’m attending this dinner to share my experiences and hopefully, provide some insights about weighing and deciding on early career options.
